How the Code was Uncovered

Tuesday May 23rd, 2006; 19h30... We had all gathered getting ready for the big evening, it was the night Da Vinci's Codes would truly be uncovered and the fallacies found in Dan Brown's book would be laid out for all to see.

Thank you to all who prayed, the night went very well! It was started off with a song, then I got up and gave a quick introduction to the night and the book, explaining some of the errors in the Da Vinci Code and putting them in a historical setting of what actually happened. Then we broke up into two groups for discussion. When we came back together, I got up again and shared the information about the character of Jesus, His divinity, the validity of the Bible, and why this affects our lives today. I finished by encouraging everyone to begin their own treasure hunt for the kingdom of God, knowing that when we search we will find.

Although there were not many in attendance, one of the people who did come caught my attention. His name was Jonathan. Jonathan said that this Tuesday was his first weeknight in almost a year that he had left the dorms. Not only was he new to SFC, he also was the last one to leave that night, gratefully accepting our gifts of the Gospel of John as well as a sheet of verses about the life of Jesus and why that affects people 2000+ years later. Some of Jonathan's parting words were "I'll see you next week."

That night Jonathan not only found out more about the true Jesus and the reason He had come, but also Jonathan found out what it was like to be accepted for who He was in the midst of people whom he had otherwise not known. It says in the Bible that "They will know you are Christians by your love." I am thankful to everyone in SFC who not only helped put the Da Vinci Code discussion night together, but also who loved and accepted Jonathan when he came.
